Out of stock

The 1838o Capped Bust Half Dollar 2 oz silver high relief tribute round is now available at ABS bullion. The Capped Bust was one of the early US coins struck in the late 18th and early 19th century. It was originally designed by John Reich but later modified by William Kneass, Chief engraver of the US Mint at the time.

  •   Struck by the Intaglio Mint.

  •   Contains two ounces of .999 fine silver.

  •    Arrives in a new oversized capsule.

  •    The reverse features a bald eagle with its wings outstretched.

  •    The obverse features a right profile portrait of Lady Liberty.

The 1838o Capped Bust is one of the rarest, and highly-sought after coin among collectors. It was the very first coin ever struck at the infamous New Orleans Mint.

The Capped bust proved to be a popular design and remained in circulation from 1807 through 1839. The famous design was also on the quarter and dime throughout most of the same time period.

The 2 oz silver tribute round is one of the most stunning renditions of the Capped Bust. Struck in 2 troy ounces of .999 fine silver by the famed Intaglio Mint. Known for their beautiful piedforts of early US coins, the Capped Bust is one of Intaglios latest releases.

The ultra high relief and silky satin finish result in a true work of art. The high relief brings out many of the intricate details that often go unnoticed on the smaller coins. Straight from the mint, each round is placed in a brand new airtight oversized capsule with a foam insert keeping it nice and secured.
