1987 was the Royal Mints official release of the gold Britannia. It was Great Britain’s answer to the Krugerrand and the Maple Leaf, the top selling coins at the time.
It wasn’t long after it’s release that it became one of the world’s most popular and sought after coin. Despite Britannia being the national symbol of Great Britain, she was originally designed by the Romans in the first century A.D. Similar to the gold Soveriegn, the Britannia is the Royal Mints modern day flagship coin.
The coin is in remarkable condition with a beautiful mirror like finish and arrives in a new airtight capsule. For added protection, the coin is housed in a brand new Guardhouse display box in a mahogany finish.
