2019 marks the 40th anniversary of theย gold Canadian Maple Leaf seriesโ. The Royal Canadian Mint celebrated the event with this special 40 Year Tribute coin struck in 3 oz of .9999 fine silverย with selective gold gilding.
The 2019 tribute Maple Leaf was the first coin with the images on both sides of the coinย incuse-struck. The massive 55 mmย diameter coin features laser struck lettering on the edge. A repeating pattern ofย tiny maple leavesย with the number 40ย surrounds the edge of the coin.
The obverse side of the coin is graced with Susan Blunt’s Effigy of Queen Elizabeth IIย gilded in a layer of gold.ย The reverse features the iconicย sugar maple leafย designed by Walter Ott.
