A Trident is 3 prong spear typically used to spear fish, yet was also used as a weapon in ancient times. A broken trident head is the Barbados national symbol and is prominately displayed on the Barbados flag. The broken head represents Barbados’ break from colonial rule.

In 2017, the Scottsdale Mint launched the Silver Trident series issued for Barbados.  Each coin in series features the Barbados trident head.  What makes the series unique is that each year has a different backround design giving the coin its own unique look.

The 2023 Trident is struck in 1 troy oz of .9999 fine silver with a lustrous finish. The obverse features the Barbados coat of arms. The reverse features the famous Trident head.  Tincture lines in the backround surround the trident giving a spiraling effect.
