The original Una and the Lion coin was struck in 1839 to commemorate the reign of Queen Victoria of England, following her succession to the throne, in 1837.
The famous image was the work of one of the greatest engravers of the time, William Wyon. Today, it’s regarded among the most beautiful coin designs ever struck.
The featured bar is the latest release from the Sunshine Mint. The obverse has a rendition of the iconic Una and the lion design.
The reverse features a repeating pattern along with the weight, purity and content. The Latin phrase “Dirigit Deus Cressus Meos” which translates to ” may God guard my steps” is also found on the reverse.
