The 1873 cc is a crown jewel among coin enthusiasts and collectors. Trade dollars weren’t meant for circulation in the issuing country, but rather for international trade. Most of the dies for the first trade dollar in 1873 had defects with exception for a few that made it to the Carson City mint.
Just under 125,000 Trade dollars were struck at the Carson City mint intended for use with Southeast Asian countries. The vast majority never made them back to the States. The ones that found themselves back were in poor condition. Today, very few exist in good or excellent condition.
The 1873 cc trade dollar tribute round was struck by the Intaglio Mint in 2 troy oz of .999 fine silver with a silky satin finish. Intaglio is known for their beautiful renditions of late 18th and early 19th century US coins. The ultra high relief and shimmering satin finish enhances many of the intricate details that often go unnoticed in smaller coins.
Recently struck, these beautiful gems are direct from the mint and in absolutely spectacular condition. All Intaglio mint tribute rounds purchased from ABS bullion arrive in a new oversized capsule with foam washer keeping it nice and secured.
