The 20-gold Franc Gold Angel coin was created in 1792 by Augustine Dupree. The gold Angel was first issued for just 2 years in 1848 and 1849. It was issued again in 1871 remaining in circulation through 1898.

The obverse side of the coin features an image of a guardian angel, also known as “The Genius”. She’s depicted near a column writing on the French constitution as a gallic rooster looks on.
The reverse side of the coin has the phrase ” Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite” surrounded by Laurel wreath along with the date of issue.
