1974 Canadian Olympics 1.5 oz Temple of Zeus $10 Coin

1970 Marked A Major Milestone For Canada Being Awarded As The Host Of The 1976 Summer Olympics Which Were Held In Montreal. With A Slowing Economy Due To Inflation, The Canadian Government Decided On An Ambitious Plan In Order To Fund The Building Of New Olympic Stadiums. An Olympic Commemorative Coin Series Was Issued Featuring A Portrait Of Queen Elizabeth On The Obverse And Various Olympic Themed Designs On The Reverse. It Was The First Time The Royal Canadian Mint Issued Coins With A Denomination Of 5 And $10 With A Satin Finish.  The Series Consisted Of 28 Coins; 14 – $5 Coins  &  14 – $10 Coins,. Early On These Were Mainly Sold Through The Canadian Mint, Bullion Dealers As Well As Banks.
