The obverse of the 1987 half gold Sovereign is graced with the 4th Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse features the famous image of St George on horseback as he slays a dragon. It was designed in 1817 by one of the greatest artist and engraver, Benedetto Pistrucci.–
