The beautiful Britannia design is the work of Philip Nathan, also known for designing the modern day Britannia image which is featured on all even numbered years since the series began in 1997. His drew inspiration from the iconic Una and the lion.
The set contains a 1 oz Britannia, a 1/2 oz Britannia, a 1/4 oz Britannia, and a 1/10 oz Britannia each dated 2001. The 2001 silver Britannia is the most sort after of the series. In total, Just under 45,000 coins were struck including those in sets.
