UK Britannia 1 oz Silver £2 Coin Gem BU UK Britannia 1 oz Silver £2 Coin Gem BU
Britannia has been Great Britain’s national symbol since the 18th century. However her story goes back much further. Britannia’s were minted by the Romans on bronze coins in the first century AD.
The first Britannia was struck in 1987 by Philip Nathan as a 1 oz gold coin. A decade later in 1987, the first silver Britannia was struck and a proof finish. The second year issue in 1998 and all even numbered years that followed have featured the same Britannia image.
Prior to 2012, odd numbered years featured a different image of Britannia struck in extremely low numbers. These are the most popular and sought after Britannia’s, often selling for well over $100. The feature 2011 was the last year to feature a different image.
The featured 2011 Britannia is absolutely stunning. Each coin arrives in remarkable condition housed in a new Direct Fit capsule.
