The Queen’s Beast series is one of the most popular and successful and coin series since it debuted in 2016. The collection features the 10 heraldic beasts attributed to the present Monarchy, ” the House of Windsor”.
A tradition going back over 800 years, the heraldic beasts symbolize the history of the British Monarchy. Each Beast was attributed to a past Royal ancestor. Through family lineage, they can be traced as far back to the first Beast, the Lion of England attributed to King Richard I in the 12th century.
The 2017 red dragon of whales was the third coin released in the series. The obverse features the 5th effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse features an image of the Red Dragon of Wales. The coin is struck in 2 troy ounces of .9999 pure silver in a lustrous finish. Each coin arrives in remarkable condition and housed in a new capsule with a foam washer keeping it secured.
