2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the gold Canadian Maple Leaf series’. The Royal Canadian Mint celebrated the event with this special 40 Year Tribute coin struck in 3 oz of .9999 fine silver with selective gold gilding.
The 2019 tribute Maple Leaf was the first coin with the images on both sides of the coin incuse-struck. The massive 55 mm diameter coin features laser struck lettering on the edge. A repeating pattern of tiny maple leaves with the number 40 surrounds the edge of the coin.
The obverse side of the coin is graced with Susan Blunt’s Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II gilded in a layer of gold. The reverse features the iconic sugar maple leaf designed by Walter Ott.
Vintage was set at only 2,000 coins making the 2019 Canadian 3 oz silver Maple Leaf double incuse one of the most sought coins among collectors, coin enthusiasts, and investors alike.
