The popular series began in 2014 when U.S. Chief Engraver John Mercanti collaborated with the Perth Mint for the series. Like many of the Perth Mint’s series, each year features a different design by John Mercanti.
The Wedge-tailed eagle was chosen for its distinctive Wing design. He believed it would strike beautifully on a coin, and he was right. His attention to the smallest detail gives the coin a life like appearance. The obverse is graced with the fifth Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
The coin was struck in one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver. The relief points are finished in a beautiful luster, with a beautiful satin in the backfield.
