On December 7th 1973, astronauts boarded Apollo 17 for a legendary mission to the Moon. One of the astronauts took a photo of Earth at a distance of roughly 28,000 miles. The iconic photo became known as the “Blue Marble”. It captured the Earth in stunning clarity resembling, well, a blue marble.
The 2022 Blue Marble is proof struck in 1 troy oz of .999 pure silver. The obverse features the Island of Fiji’s coat of arms on the concave side. A captivating image of our planet on the reverse features the Mediterranean Sea, the African continent and the South Pole. Skillfully designed on the convex captures the curvature of the Earth.
The Blue Marble was struck by the prestigious mint of Poland, with only 1000 coins struck. Known as the most technologically advanced mint, they’ve received multiple awards for unique concepts. The Blue Marble arrives encapsulated and housed in their flagship display case along with certificate of authenticity.
