The Krugerrand was first minted in 1967 to introduce South African gold on the world stage. It did just that. In the early 1980s, three-quarters of the world’s gold coins were African Krugerrands.
Gold Krugerrands are struck in 22-karat gold. The composition is 91.67% gold and 8.33% copper, which gives the coin a rustic rose gold finish. The featured 2022 Krugerrand contains 1/10 of an ounce of pure gold.
The obverse features the South African Republic’s first president, Paul Kruger. The African springbok antelope is depicted on the reverse.
Each Krugerrand from ABS Bullion arrives in remarkable condition, housed in a mint-issued capsule.
