The Wedge-tailed Eagle series began in 2014 as a collaboration with U.S. Mint chief engraver John Mercanti and Perth Mint. Each year features a new image of the Wedge tail Eagle designed by Mercanti himself.
John Mercanti crafted more than one hundred coins throughout his thirty-six-year tenure at the United States Mint. His most renowned work is the American Silver Eagle’s emblematic heraldic eagle on the reverse.
Mercanti chose the Majestic Wedge-tail eagle because of its distinctive wing design, believing it would strike beautifully on a coin. His vision and attention to the smallest detail gives the Wedge-tailed eagle a lifelike appearance.
The 2024 release marks the 10-year anniversary of the series. The coins obverse features the first official portrait of King Charles III by famed artist Martin Jennings.
The 2024 wedge tail eagle is skillfully struck in one troy ounce .9999 fine silver. Direct from the mint, the coin arrives in it’s original Direct Fit capsule.
