Trsat is a small area in the town of Rjeka, Croatia. The world famous Trsat castle sits upon a hilltop overlooking the town. The castle was built in the 13th century and was strategically important due to its location.
The Trsat dragon was a mythical creature with the characteristics of a snake, a dragon and a rooster. Ancient tales describe how the dragons as Guardians overlooking the castle and surrounding area. The Trsat dragon coin has a deep historical and cultural background.
The 2024 Trsat dragon is struck in 1 troy ounce of .9999 pure silver with a satin finish. The obverse features the Trsat dragon in a right side profile along with the year of issue and name of the coin in Latin. The reverse has a left side profile of the Dragon along with the issuing country and face value of 4 euros.
