UK Lunar Year of the Dragon 1/40th oz Gold Proof Coin
In ancient Asian culture, the dragon represents the 5th year in the Chinese Lunar calendar. They were considered a symbol of power and fortune. Unlike Western folklore that portray dragons as fierce and demonic, in Eastern folklore dragons were revered guardians with the ability to bestow fortune and luck.
The 2024 British lunar dragon is struck in 1/40th oz of .9999 pure gold in a proof finish. The obverse is graced with the first Effigy of King Charles III. The reverse the depicts a contorted Chinese dragon. A mintage of only 2,888 proof coins were struck. Each coin arrives direct from the mint, embedded in a blister pack with all identifying markings.
