The first gold sovereign was struck in 1489 by order of King Henry VII and remained in circulation during the reigns of several Monarchs.
The Sovereign was redesigned in 1817 by Benedetto Pistrucci and put back into circulation. The stunning new design is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful coin design ever struck.
The reverse side has a depiction of St George on horseback as he slays a dragon. The obverse features the first official portrait of King Charles III.
The Sovereign has remained in circulation for over two centuries. Aside from Jubilee and commemorative years, it still features the original St. George and the Dragon design.
The featured 2025 half gold Sovereign is just as stunning as ever. Each coin arrives in a new factory sealed Assay card. |
