A three-day celebration commemorating the 100-year anniversary of the Statue of Liberty began in lower Manhattan during the 4th of July weekend in 1985. “In honor of Liberty Weekend” MTB (Manfra, Tordella, and Brooks) issued a series of silver bars and rounds struck from the most prestigious names in precious metals at the time.

Johnson Matthey, Engelhard, and the Mexican mint were tasked with creating the series of silver bars and rounds during the mid 80’s. Each featured the same image in both brilliant uncirculated and proof versions in a variety of sizes. It’s worth noting, the first set of bars were produced by the Medallic Arts (MA) company in 1982.

The program continued under the trade name, Liberty Trade Silver in 1984. Following the release of JM’s rounds, Engelhard released their first series of rounds with the iconic image in 1986.

The obverse side of the coin is double dated (1886-1986) and features a close-up image of Lady Liberty with a portion of her arm. The reverse has the remaining portion of her arm holding the iconic torch, known as the “Flame of Liberty”.

The featured 1986 Engelhard Centennial round is struck in one troy ounce of .999 pure silver. Only 10,000 rounds were produced making this one of the most highly sought after of the series.

The coin in the photographs may or may not be the coin you receive. However, the coin you receive will be equal to, or in better condition than the one in the photos. ABS Bullion hand selects these rounds guaranteeing your receive the absolute finest available with virtually no imperfections to the naked eye.
