In 1953, an estimated three million people lined the streets of London to catch a glimpse of the procession, while millions more crowded around television sets to watch the grand event. For many, the Coronation represented the beginning of a hopeful new Elizabethan era.
To honor the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation in 2013, the Perth Mint released this stunning ¼ ounce gold coin in a proof finish. With a limited mintage of just 1000 coins, it became one of the most sought-after coins, selling out upon release.
The reverse features Her Majesty in ceremonial regalia, with the inscription 1953-2013 ANNIVERSARY OF CORONATION. The obverse features Ian Broadly’s effigy of the Queen along with the date and purity. This stunning coin arrives encapsulated and presented in the Perth Mint’s signature clamshell display case.
