The original angel coin was issued during the reign of King Edward IV in the 15th century. Due to its storied past, people also refer to it as the Lucky Angel. Over the years, numerous stories were told of people who, while carrying the coin, miraculously escaped death. Many had attributed it to the coin.
In 1984, the Pobjoy Mint collaborated with the Isle of Man and introduced a redesigned angel coin in silver featuring the iconic image. The reverse features a depiction of Archangel Michael slaying a dragon, who is actually the devil in disguise.
An effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, exclusively for the Pobjoy Mint, graces the obverse. A right-side portrait of her Majesty, crowned and wearing a pearl necklace and pearl earrings.
It’s one of the most highly sought-after of the series, as it was the last Silver Angel struck by the PobJoy mint. Absolutely stunning and in remarkable condition. Each coin arrives encapsulated in its original factory-sealed plastic, intact and airtight.
