Mexican Libertads are among the most sought-after coins, often selling with high premiums. Apart from their beauty and popularity, Mexican libertads typically strike in extremely low numbers.
The 2-ounce silver proof debuted in 1996 and is among the rarest Libertads. The featured 2018 Libertad has a mintage of only 5000 coins.
The obverse side of the coin features the Sacred Winged Angel (the Angel of Victory) that sits atop the Monument of Mexican Independence in Mexico City.
The reverse features the Mexican national coat of arms surrounded by prior coats of arms. The Spanish phrase ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS is also inscribed on the reverse.
