The Canadian Coat of Arms was proclaimed by King George V on November 21st 1921. The Royal Canadian Mint celebrates the 100-year anniversary with a stunning 1/10 oz gold reverse proof $20 coin.
The obverse side of the coin is graced with an Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by famed artist Susan Blunt.
The Canadian Coat of Arms is featured on the reverse. A garland of floral emblems sits at the base that include the English Rose, the Scottish thistle, the Irish Shamrock, and the French Lily.
The Shield sits at the center with it’s upper quadrants featuring the three Lions of England, the Lion of Scotland, the Irish Harp, and the fleurs-de-lis of France.
The Royal Union flag is held by the Lion of England to the left of the Shield while the Unicorn of Scotland carries the French Royal flag.
A draped Royal helmet sits above the shield along with a Crest set on a wreath of cloth comprised of lion holding a maple leaf. Above the Crest is the Imperial Crown that represents the monarch of Canada’s Head of State.
The 2021 Canadian Coat of Arms is a rare gem with a limited mintage of only 3,000 coins. Proof struck in 1/10 troy oz of .9999 pure gold by the Royal Canadian Mint.
