The Golden Eagle is among Europe’s largest predator birds. Known as the bird of Zeus in mythology, the fierce Predator is known to capture prey as large as foxes and small coyotes.
The 2024 Golden Eagle is issued by the bank of Malta and struck by the Germania mint. The coins obverse features The Maltese coat of arms over a wreath. A famous painting on the ceiling of the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta was the inspiration.
The reverse side features the majestic golden eagle with a serpent dangling from its jaws. The famous image also found on the Mexican Libertad is widely regarded as a symbol of good versus evil.
