The dragon represents the 5th year in the Chinese zodiac calendar. In ancient Chinese culture, dragons were mythical creatures and a symbol of power, strength, and good luck. It is believed that those born in the year of the dragon will enjoy a life of good fortune.
The reverse features a Chinese dragon immersed in a cloud of fog. The Chinese character for Dragon along with the date is also on the reverse. A special mint mark “P125” was added signifying the Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary. The obverse bears the fifth Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
The 2024 lunar dragon is struck in 1/10 oz of .9999 pure gold. Straight from the mint, the coin arrives in a direct fit capsule. For added protection, the coin is housed in a new Guardhouse display box in a mahogany finish.
