The Engelhard brand is known for its exceptional quality. The business began as a small refinery in New Jersey in 1902. In less than a century, they grew into a multi-national, billion-dollar company in 1980.
Aside from being the biggest refinery in the US, they were also one of the biggest providers of PGMs, silver, and gold worldwide.Though they were mainly global suppliers of precious metals, they also produced bullion bars and rounds in a variety of sizes.
The last bars minted by Engelhard were over four decades ago. Their 1 ounce silver bar is still one of the most popular and sought-after bars by collectors and coin enthusiasts.
Unlike today’s bars that feature beautiful artwork, their bars were simple, and classy featuring their name, logo weight, purity and serial number. In later years, another logo was introduced: the tall “E” inside of a globe, with the bull at the tip of the letter E.
