The original Una and the Lion coin was struck in 1839 to commemorate the reign of Queen Victoria of England, following her succession to the throne, in 1837.
The famous image was designed by one of the greatest engravers of the time, William Wyon. Today, it’s regarded as one of the most beautiful coin designs ever struck.
The obverse features a rendition of the original design. Una walking alongside her guardian lion holding both an orb and scepter. The reverse features the Royal mint logo along with the weight, purity and content.
