The 20-gold-franc Gold Angel coin was created in 1792 by famed engraver Augustine Dupree. The gold Angel was first issued for just 2 years in 1848 and 1849. In 1871, the gold Angel was reissued and remained in circulation until 1898.
For centuries, the Gold Angel has captivated people from around the globe. In addition to its outstanding beauty and value, the French Gold Angel has a mysterious past.
It’s widely believed that the coin has a protective force and has become known as an emblem of luck. During World War II, fighter pilots from France, Britain, and the United States carried the coins into battle with them.
The obverse side of the coin features an image of a guardian angel, also known as “The Genius.” She’s depicted near a column writing on the French constitution as a Gallic rooster looks on.
The reverse side of the coin has the phrase “Liberté, égalité, fraternité” surrounded by a laurel wreath along with the date of issue.
The Lucky Gold Angel is one of the most popular and most liquid gold coins ever struck. It’s favored by investors and collectors, providing both numismatic and intrinsic value.
The featured 1895 French gold angel is brilliant uncirculated and in remarkable condition. The coin arrives securely inside a new direct-fit capsule.
