Benedetto Pistrucci’s image of Saint George and the Dragon has graced the British Sovereign for centuries. A relative of the famous Italian coin-engraver, Angela Pistrucci has designed a new image of St George and the Dragon in honor of the 200 year anniversary of the British Sovereign.
The 2018 legend of Saint George’s Shield is proof struck in one troy ounce of .999 pure silver in ultra high relief. Struck by the tower mint, it has a limited mintage of only 5,000 coins.
The reverse side of the coin depicts Saint George triumphantly holding his shield while his horse rears its hind legs. The obverse side features Raphael Maklouf’s traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The St. George Shield is absolutely stunning. The coins beautiful luster combined with the ultra high relief brings out many of the intricate details that would otherwise go unnoticed.
The 2018 Gibraltar 1 oz Silver “Legend of Saint George Shield” is in absolutely pristine condition. The coin arrives secured in a premium capsule and presented in a new mahogany Guardhouse display box. It also includes a serialized certificate of authenticity.
