Also known as the Silver Rider, the coin was issued in 1619 by the Dutch East India Company to compete against the Spanish dollar.
The obverse side of the coin features a prominent design of a knight in full armor atop a galloping horse with a sword drawn. The iconic image earned the coin its legendary nickname, the Silver Rider.
The reverse side of the coin includes the Royal Dutch coat of arms with the Latin inscription “CONCORDIA. RES. PARVAE. CRESCVNT.”
