The Masterpiece series celebrates one of the Royal Mint’s greatest engravers, William Wyon. The Three Graces was the first release of the series, followed by Una and The Lion and the Gothic Crown.
The Three Graces was one of Wyons’ earlier designs and was barely noticed at first. It’s believed that less than 100 coins were struck. He designed the coin to celebrate the unification between England and Ireland.
The theme of the coin was inspired by Greek mythology, with the 3 Graces representing the daughters of Zeus. The 3 goddesses were capable of bestowing their virtues onto others as well as gifts for humanity.
The featured 2021 Three Graces is proof struck in 1 troy ounce of .999 pure silver by the East India Company. The reverse features a rendition of Wyon’s Three Graces in a beautiful luster.
The obverse side of the coin is graced with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This effigy was designated to be used by only the East India Company.
