On December 7th, 1973, astronauts boarded Apollo 17 for a legendary mission to the Moon. One of the astronauts took a photo of Earth at a distance of roughly 28,000 miles. The iconic photo became known as the “Blue Marble”.    It captured the Earth in stunning clarity, resembling, well, a blue marble.

The 2022 Blue Marble is a proof struck in 1 troy oz of .999 pure silver. The obverse is graced with the fifth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.  The reverse features two astronauts as they gaze back at the beautiful blue marble in the background.
