The guinea was a gold coin struck by Great Britain in 1663 featuring several designs over the years. The first guinea was the cruciform scepter. Aside from its beautiful design, it was the first coin struck by machinery.
The featured 2022 Saint Helena Sceptre Guinea is a rendition of the Cruciform Sceptre. The coin is struck in 1.25 ounce of .999 fine silver by the famed East India Company. The coin has the East India Company repeating pattern design in the backfield.
The coin’s obverse is graced with the third effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait designed by famed artist Raphael Maklouf in 1984 depicts the queen wearing the Diamond Diadem.
The reverse features four interlinked scepters that create four quadrants. Each features the crowned shields of Great Britain, Scotland, France, and Ireland, which complete the cruciform.
Beautifully designed, the 2022 St. Helena Sceptre Guinea is absolutely remarkable and in pristine condition. Each coin arrives direct from the mint in a new Direct Fit capsule.
